Can anyone in Spain please help? Gp.useless, told me to come back when it's all over. So I have 2 questions... If I buy hrt at the chemist, do they do all the relevant health checks? Or should I go private and if so any recommendations? I'm near Barcelona. Many TIA

Hi!

I live in Valencia. I was told I needed antidepressants (at 43, then at 46) so, with help from posters on here and reams of research, I now get oestrogel OTC from pharmacy and ustrogen OTC (which I take vaginally) so nothing ingested at all. Apparently the best and safest way to do it.

It might be an idea to start yourself off on it and try and see a GP privately (with the latest Guidelines in hand, mind!)

Personally, I saw an expert on menopause to check I was doing the right thing, when I went back to London on holiday.

But the gel and tablets worked instantly for me.

I am absolutely not an expert or a GP. You could try asking jinglinghellsbells for advice, she is very kind and extremely knowledgable, writes about this for a living.

I am on 'conti' as am 5 years past peri, she knows more about 'sequi' which means you take the progesterone part for just 12 days or so of your cycle.

I wish you all the best. Doctors here just think it is a 'natural process we should put up with' and prescribe anti depressants. It is so depressing. I was also told 43 was 'normal'

The gel you just rub on your inner thighs or upper arms.

I apply that in the morning and progesterone at night.
