High BP....stressed!

Have just come back from GP, went for repeat prescription of my HRT which I've been on for about 3 months now (this type, anyway. Gel and separate progesterone). My BP has been high the last 3 times it has been taken and she now wants me to either wear a 24 hour monitor, or buy a machine and monitor myself. Worried about the 24 hour monitor as it would stop me from sleeping and this is going to massively stress me out! Also worried that if my BP is high the doctor will take me off the HRT which has only just started working for me and I feel like I'm getting my life back. I've read that the HRT itself can cause elevated BP - is this correct? Anyone with any experience of this?

The 24 hour monitor doesn't disturb you that much IME I've had it twice.
and its only one night!

My BP went right up when I started menopause and unfortunately that means I cannot take HRT.
I've had the 24hr monitor and it wasn't that bad but I've brought my own BP monitor which I find much better for recording a proper measurement. I got it from Lidl on offer but I think you can get them quite reasonably priced at most pharmacists or supermarkets.

Thanks I think I'm gonna buy my own. I struggle to sleep as it is without something squeezing my arm every hour!

I found it easier because you can use it when you know it is convenient. I've had a lot of anxiety since menopause so obviously going for a BP test at the Drs doesn't help so I know where you're coming from.
Bloody menopause, its no fun is it?

It's a bag of shite @MrsDoylesTeaBags, you're not wrong!

@MrsDoylesTeaBags you can take HRT if your high BP is brought under control (eg. by medication etc).

@chocolatesaltyballs22 my surgery has a BP machine you can borrow for a week and then take your readings in. I did twice daily monitoring. (I suffer from shocking "white coat" readings it would seem)
Could that be an option for you perhaps?
