Hello there. I had this for a time. My HRT sorted it out.

granadagirl · 24/02/2020 23:47

Yes!! Had it for years on and off
Horrible
It’s seems to get worse when anxiety is heightened

Tasharuby1 · 26/02/2020 07:24

Hi, I’ve had it at times when I’ve been stressed. Not noticed menopause or HRT making it worse. You can try artificial saliva although personally I found that pretty useless. I keep some sugar free fruit sweets in the car to suck if my mouth gets dry. I did have peeling flaky lips a while back but concluded I had developed an allergy to an ingredient in my lipsalve. Swapped to plain vaseline and have been OK since.

Tasharuby1 · 28/02/2020 08:35

I’ve had it for 5 months now

I’ve got this too. I had dry constantly peeling lips but my dermatologist gave me Protopic and this has been great. I also have chelitis.

No one tells you about these symptoms being part of the menopause

howells · 28/02/2020 09:19

Have you been to your doctor?

granadagirl · 28/02/2020 14:15

Op
I’ve been to see oral consultant privately the only thing on offer for bms was antidepressant nortriptyline.
Even went to dental hospital recently, nothing!! Again amitriptyline

It’s a drop in hormones, hence why you get it when pregnancy and menopause.
It must be around 10 years for me, and it worse when anxiety is heightened

Tasharuby1 · 28/02/2020 15:31

But nortripyline and amitriptyline give you dry mouth. And my lips already are dry and pealing.
What’s Protopic ?

Protopic is an alternative to steroid cream and can be used on the face.

I’ve been on Amitriptyline for 15 years. I’ve only got burning mouth after menopause

granadagirl · 29/02/2020 13:49

Well that’s a bloody farce then isn’t it
Offering you an antidepressant to get rid of pain and your on it already Emoji
Bloody glad I never took the advice, already on antidepressant !

In all the research I’ve done on bms
I’ve only every come across women either
Menopausal or during or after pregnancy
That have it
So to me got to be hormones depletion

Even when I went to see private oral consultant and dental hospital neither one of them mentioned the above. You would think them of all people would know
