Perimenopause beard of spots help!

I'm posting here for support. I'm really fed up. I'm 44 and have loads of perimenopausal symptoms. My doctor is very dismissive so I've given up on her. My skin is awful. I've gone from never having spots even as a teenager to my whole chin being covered in cystic painful acne. As soon as one goes down another three appear and they scar even if I don't pick them. Just wondering if anyone can offer any advice?

Yes my advice is you see a good dermatologist. Either get a referral via your GP or make an appt privately with one.

You probably needs some sort of medication whether it's anti biotics, Roaccutane if it's really bad, or maybe the Pill or HRT which will sort out the hormonal side.

I too am 44 and get the beard of spots!!! Tends to last a few weeks and then, just when I'm getting fed up enough to see a Dr, it clears up and skin will go back to normal for a couple of months. I don't think anything you can get over the counter helps, so GP probably the right place to start if yours is likely to be supportive.

I had this too, really mean cystic spots, I got them at the back of my neck at one point too. I found LED light treatment worked really well - it didn't stop the spots appearing but it cleared them up really fast. I got a handheld device - it was a while ago now, can't remember what it was called but it looks like the LightStim one, there are tons of different ones, and masks, on the market now. The spots just stopped in the end, but I think that was just the menopause doing it's thing.

It's definitely hormonal.

My DD had acne and saw a very good dermo who suggested the Pill after a course of Roaccutane and said nothing else would work as well.

I used to get this in my early forties. I took Agnus Castus, which is a herbal remedy that seems to have a balancing effect on hormones. My spots totally cleared up. I am still perimenopausal (age 48) but absolutely no acne now. Try Agnus Castus.
