Perimenopausal and gaining weight - tearing my hair out!

I have been bleeding for around 3 months, feeling stressed and angry that I am gaining weight - about a stone overweight although exercising most days when I have the energy. Hardly any of my clothes fit me and I feel a frumpy mess. Any tips for losing this weight and feeling better?

Thank you. I realise I have to address my drinking and perhaps just keep it for special occasions. I will see how I feel after a couple of weeks, hopefully some symptoms will diminish then. I really appreciate your advice, I needed that wake-up call.

I'm glad you have read and responded.

The thing is- heavy drinking will raise your blood pressure, put weight on, increase the risk of strokes and heart attacks and cancer, and is far more dangerous than any HRT - which is shown to protect the heart.

No one can comment on what happened to your gran- dying from The Pill is very very rare.

You clearly can have hormones as you say you have used the Mirena and the Pill in the past.

If you want to use HRT then transdermal does not raise risk of blood clots, but you could ask for a blood test anyway to see if you have inherited a blood clotting disorder.

You mentioned you had spoken to doctors about your abuse as a child.

Have you had counselling with a psychotherapist? If not, can you ask for this kind of help? If you are still struggling with the effects of the abuse, maybe look into more support?

There is always MIND (online) as a starting point for all of this if you want to contact them.
