Do periods just stop suddenly

I'm 52 and up to now have had very regular periods. The last one was about 1 week late and this time it's over 2 weeks late. Will it continue to get further and further apart or can they just end suddenly?

I think everyone is different.

I had a couple of light ones then they stopped.

:)

mine did at 55 18months ago, had a couple of very light ones since no mood swings but plenty hot flushes/burns since

Mine did at 36. I spent a fortune on pregnancy tests.
I was in early menopause

I had a horrible perimenopause (long heavy periods with scarcely anytime between)than they regulated but still v heavy, than while we were moving house I lost track (always had irregular periods) & suddenly realized I hadn't had one for a few months & that was it (I was so happy!!!)

I am here now, problems since 38, every symptom going, then went 7 months without, horrendously heavy, then missing for 6 months, 2/3/4 weeks late. Then ome really light one, i have put a,stone on but i quite like that i am curvier (never really had proper shape before) struggle with migranes and anemia, terribly, but really hoping im done. 43 at the end of the month, my mums stopped at 43. Yay! Fingers crossed eh?

Mine just got lighter and further apart and stopped about 4 years ago, very few symptoms, odd hot flush, harder to keep trim, love not having periods.

avinitall · 08/02/2020 21:13

I'm wondering the same? Do they just finish?
I'm 52 and going on holiday on Wednesday, very much hoping my period won't start on my holiday or just before.
I know I had one mid-December but am pretty sure I didn't have one last month. It was heavy for 2 days and light for 3 so far as I remember (the last few times)

Have a nice holiday and fingers crossed you make it through without.
