Night sweats - hot or cold?

I'm 51 and stopped the progesterone only pill at the beginning of this year to see what is happening to my periods. I'd been getting breakthrough spotting on the pill for a while. Since stopping the pill I have had no period (yet) but it's early days.

For the last 4 years or so I've been getting the occasional night sweat. On each occasion I have felt very cold but utterly drenched my pyjamas (sometimes 2 sets) and the bed.

Last night I woke up feeling too hot and noticed that I had worked up a sweat, although not nearly as drenching as the cold sweats.

I'm just wondering if anyone else gets both hot and cold sweats, and whether the change from cold to hot signifies anything in terms of progress through peri and out the other side.

No, they are just different versions of vasomotor symptoms.

Maybe see your dr and discuss HRT? Symptoms can go on for many years- 10 or 20 in some women, there is no knowing how long.
