Tried to find the right hrt for 2 years
Eventually prescribed venlaflaxine which was horrific
Sourced evorel sequi myself

I just feel like I want to give up
So despairing
I’m rarely going out of the house
Have no desire to do anything

Oh OP I really feel for you. It's so hard and feels so unfair to have to suffer from more bloody hormones after a lifetime of periods.

Hang on in there you'll find something that works for you.

Go back to your gp and insist on a specialist referral.

In the meantime. Get up, shower and eat then think of something you want to do now.

madroid · 25/01/2020 11:42

Sorry missed the bit about not wanting to do anything. I think for today you must get yourself out. Just do something that you know you normally enjoy. Even if you don't it will get you through the day.

This is temporary OP. It really won't last forever. I had four years of feeling crap most of the time. After six months when it was really awful and just as I thought I couldn't stand it any longer, it started to get better gradually on its own. It just took its own time. Hang in there. Fight back.

The first 18 months of it were my worst and I actually felt suicidal at one point. But it will start to slowly improve I promise. Have you seen a consultant Gynae? If not consider insisting on an NHS referral or paying for a one off private consultation.
For now try to be kind to yourself, find simple pleasures such as warm lavender baths, scented candles, nice food and drink, try to distract yourself with a favourite magazine. Just little things to help get you through the days.
And tell people how you feel!

What types of HRT have you tried @Amaryl? what didn't work for you with them? There is usually one that works and suits people although none of them are 100% perfect.

Started with elleste duet
Nothing really happened so upped the dose, then I was bleeding too much
Switched to evorel sequi, again not helping much, maybe a slight improvent
When the pharmacy couldn’t fill the prescription because of shortages, and I went to go saying maybe it’s more real depression than hormonal, the gp prescribed this horrible ad venlaflaxine which also helps with peri menopause apparently. Persevered with that for 7 weeks, it was a horrible high, spaced out, teeth grinding.
I found the sequi online so had no gap really

But I just feel dreadful
Anxious, don’t want to do anything
I am putting off everything, it’s all tooo much effort

Hi amaryl
I've been feeling like you since October now and I know how you feel as I'm really struggling. I haven't gone down the h r t route but I've just been reading Dr Joel Wallach's stuff and he said you ladies will suffer if you don't suppliment with boron through the menopause and he knows his stuff so I've just started on 3 mg a day and also apple cider vinegar has miraculous benefits I've just read on earth clinic. Try and pick some up asap.
Bless you

I can relate, I was suicidal when my peri started and it was the first time at my life that I wanted to die. I was almost convinced that my life and my career was over. I hadn’t depression, it was hormonal and it was like a bad dream for me.

Lucyloo777 · 03/02/2020 16:23

Just thinking about you amaryl. I have had a very anxious day today and it’s been a struggle again. I am not sleeping well and I have finished my job for a while now due to the way I feel. I’m limited to what I can have because my mum had breast cancer so trying herbal stuff like lemon balm. I hope your day was ok today. Praying for you x
