Premique as a replacement for Indivina?

Hello. I was wondering if anyone has had experience of switching to Premique after being on Indivina. My latest prescription for Indivina could not be fulfilled due to a shortage, and this is what my surgery are suggesting after consultation with the local pharmacy. I have completely run out of pills so it looks like I have no choice, but I wanted to be warned about any possible side effects or differences. Thank you.

Have you been offered premique or is it your choice?

Premique is a very old type of HRT using an artificial type of estrogen ( made from horse urine) and it's not one which is in favour now in the UK for all kinds of reasons, especially safety.

The trend now is to offer all women transdermal estrogen - patches of gel.

Thank you. No, they haven't. I started over a tear ago and they only ever offered me Indivina (and now Premique due to the shortage). I'm up against it time wise now, so I'll take this for the time being, but will make an appointment to discuss what you suggest.

Could you help me with what to ask and the reasons why I'm asking? Am I right in thinking that I'm on the combined HRT, so will need progesterone as well as the oestrogen gel/patches?
