Cycles becoming shorter

I'm nearly 42 and my cycles are regular but have gone from 28 days to 26 and now 35. I don't have any other symptoms but am wondering if this could be the start of peri menopause? I had a baby 16 months ago and was hoping to try again soonish so a bit worried I've missed the boat.

Not 35! This cycle was 25 days.

I've just turned 42 and my 28 day cycle has dropped to 24 days for the past 3 years. Periods also last longer and are much heavier.

maloofhoof · 10/01/2020 06:35

Sorry, just turned 41!

I'm in the same boat.

Off to see a fertility specialists soon but I don't hold out much hope

I had bloods done about a year ago as suspect peri menopause and came back clear but I've since been told blood tests for that aren't reliable.

Is there a reason for being tested - is medication prescribed?

I just wanted to know what was going on and had convinced myself it was menopause as ideally I'd like another child.

As long as you are still ovulating decent eggs you are still in with a reasonable chance of getting pregnant even if you are in the perimenopause.

I'm really hoping my eggs are still healthy enough!
