Should I reset my cycle ?

Hello
Up until December my cycles had been regular as clock work but I had been having night sweats anxiety, brain fog etc .
I started on the gel on the 22nd December and was due to start the tablets today.

For the first time ever in December my period didn't appear. I was waiting to start the gel then but after a week of waiting I decided to start anyway.
Of course today my period has suddenly arrived on day 16 of the HRT cycle .

My question is can I count this as day 1 again? Presumably I don't need the progesterone tabs to make me bleed in 2 weeks time anyway.
I am very confused as to how this is all working anyway. My own hormones seem to be overriding things?
The nightsweats are a little better, but still very much in evidence.
Thanks

If you are still in peri it might be best to wait a few weeks before starting Utrogestan. Many women use the 1st or the 15th of each month as the starting day.

As you are bleeding now, it won't cause any harm to wait till 1 Feb and begin the Utrogestan then.

JinglingHellsBells
That's really helpful thank you. So i will just continue with the gel as normal for the whole of this month?
I wasn't sure since, this was day one of my natural cycle, whether I should take the Utrogestan on day 15 of this cycle to keep me in sync with my own cycle so to speak?

If your periods are still regular it might be worth trying from the 15th . There is no easy answer! During peri your own periods can override things and you can end up with 2 bleeds close together.

Either option is ok- do what you feel is best.

Thanks so much. I think I must be a bit dense. I cannot work out why I can't just take the Oestrogen if my own body is producing enough progesterone to induce a bleed? I can't find any info on the internet about this.

I think the reason is towfold

1 drs are not allowed to give estrogen only to women with a uterus- it's not licensed for that.

2 You might get a much thicker lining and a very heavy period if you use estrogen only. The ratio of estrogen to progesterone needs to be balanced.

There is a type of HRT called Tridestra- which is a 3-monthly cycle so the bleed it once every 12 weeks, and it's often used with women in peri, but it's tablet form and not transdermal so that's a downside.

Thanks- that makes sense.
My dr was as good as useless with info. I have been reading about the length of time each month you can take the Utrogestan. It’s very variable. I am very sensitive to progesterone do intend to take it vaginally as I’ve heard that has fewer side effects. Even with my own cycle I have 2 weeks of pain, misery and bloating before my period comes😟.
