Hi all,
Only joined this group and was wondering has anyone taken these pills after a total hysterectomy? So many side effects on leaflets that come with the pills, would rather hear people's experiences than just assume what can happen.
Many thanksSmile

I had a total hysterectomy at 40 and have been taking Elleste Solo for the past 26 years with no ill effects whatsoever.

Did you start taking them immediately after your op bibbertyboo2?

Dirtyfabulous I was put on the patches originally for a short while but they kept coming off so I went onto the pills soon after.

Thank you for your reply bibbertyboo2. I'm due to have a total hysterectomy in January and my consultant wants me to wait 6 weeks before starting HRT. If you didnt start on the patches immediately did you find symptoms extremely severe?
Good luck Maizie68
Thanks

Dirtyfabulous thank you,
I also had to wait 6 weeks to start my hrt! I got them because my mood swings, night sweats and hot flushes where driving me crazy, try not to stress too much, everyone is different.
All the best for your operation x

I was put on the patches immediately, they actually stuck one on as soon as I came out of theatre. What is your doctor's rationale for waiting?

dirtyfabulous · 13/12/2019 20:25

Thank you Maizie.
My consultant wants to wait to 'see how I get on' until the 6 week mark. I don't want to wait longer than necessary, I have young children and need to be able to function. My GP can't understand the unwillingness to prescribe straightaway either but won't go against consultants wishes. She is telling me to push for it but it's very difficult.
Thank you both. I hope you get some relief soon Maizie.

Hi,
My Dr said I needed to wait 6 weeks, due to the risk of blood clotting after my operation, Maybe that's the same reason your Dr has told you to wait.

I was on them after my hysterectomy in 2017. No issues whatsoever.

Now on a different HRT because of issues with supply of Elleste.
