Breast pain

I've been in perimenopause for a few years & started HRT patches earlier this year. Had 7 months without a period, then they started again. But right now I've got unbearable breast pain.

I had this a few years ago - it's not cyclical rather it's continuous. I had ultrasounds, mammograms, biopsies & it showed up fibroadenomas, which I understood are affected by hormones. But why am I getting this for such long periods? It's been 3 weeks so far this time. If I'm bra-less I literally have to hold my breasts when I walk.

Anyone had this & found anything that helps? Ibuprofen no help.

It will be the HRT but my suggestion - for what it's worth- is you maybe think about reducing the dose.

@JinglingHellsBells thank you. I need to speak to GP. I know it sounds trivial, but it's getting on my tits nerves.

what dose patch? They start at 25mcg for peri (estrogen only patch) and you could try one of the lower doses and using micronised progesterone as the type of progestogen. Worth trying different types and doses.

I think 50, as they moved me up from 25. Thing is, I had this really badly before the patches too.

There is some good research showing evening primrose oil does help breast pain.

Thank you @JinglingHellsBells my GP suggested that back then but I didn't get any relief. I'm going to get some though & try again.

I get this from time to time, I'm on evorel 50 patches too. For me it's when my own oestrogen kicks in at random times and it can last for weeks at a time. When it happens I cut my patches in half until it eases. Maybe you could ask to try gel as you can alter the dose accordingly.

Thank you @rosie39forever that's a good suggestion. I'm in agony today.

You might have to give EPO a good while- 3 months minimum and a high dose. Best google the amount for breast pain as it won't be the small dose on the box!

@JinglingHellsBells thank you. The GP wrote down a dose, but I don't think I did 3 months. I'll google it again. Just been out to vote & was wincing moving, even with a bloody bra on. And they're huuuuuuuge! Sad
