HRT Supply Issues Getting Worse?

JaggedHedge · 15/11/2019 21:45

Luckily I haven't been affected by the HRT shortages until this week, but I tried to get some Estradot 75 mcg and not only are these now out of stock everywhere but Boots was completely out of any 75 mcg patch and other local pharmacies have barely anything.

Is anyone else having the same difficulty? I don't like changing brand because it always upsets me for a few days but to not be able to get any at all Confused

I've hopefully managed to reserve some until Monday but the pharmacy hasn't even enough to fill the full prescription amount.

I have finally been told I might get a box of evoril conti tomorrow...if the delivery happens! It seems to be that the supply is trickling back in

Such a shame I have 3 months of femoston conti I can't use as was so sick after 3 days..why can't we give them back to pharmacy to give to those who need it Hmm

Ijustneed · 02/03/2020 20:40

I messaged my chemist (Lloyds) and was told to check this week, they (Evorel Conti) should be in stock.

allyballybee1968 · 03/03/2020 18:02

I got a box today!

Ijustneed · 03/03/2020 21:12

Yay!

I need to speak to my gp.

YorkshirePuddingsGreatestFan · 11/03/2020 09:17

Still not managed to get any Evorel.

I'm currently on Estraderm but it isn't working as well and I have menopause symptoms. They don't seem to stick as well as the Evorel and are peeling off by my change day.

whatashower · 13/03/2020 17:01

My pharmacy remains unable to dispense Evorel. The alternatives - including those made by the company who has bought and now apparently produce Evorel - are a poor substitute and as YorkshirePudding observes, the patches prefer to stick to baths, pyjamas and carpets rather than my hip. 😡 i am very frustrated as hrt has been a god send to me and I dread the night sweats and daytime clamminess and rage returning, if this was beer, it would be in the front pages as a national scandal (even at the moment). Grrrr.

TBeats · 18/03/2020 09:01

Where are you in the UK, csn't get any in W Yorks

TBeats · 18/03/2020 09:02

Anyone any info on whether current madness will affect hrt supply line?

whatashower · 18/03/2020 13:49

I’m South London

whatashower · 18/03/2020 13:51

tBeats the big supply chain issues were promised to be resolved by now but clearly aren’t. Although nothing to do with CV I imagine that won’t help anything.

TheVirus · 18/03/2020 15:01

I am on Evorel 50 patch. Never had any problems with supply for last few years. Hope this pandemic doesnt cause too many problems but I expect it will affect deliveries in some way

PurpleBlueAnemone · 03/04/2020 08:59

When are you all re ordering your prescriptions? How many weeks supply do you have left before you ask for a repeat?

howells · 03/04/2020 10:47

I have run out Sad. So far no luck getting anything else. Doctor had prescribed something else but I don't even know what because DH went to pick it up and can't remember what it was, and pharmacist didn't give him the scrip to try elsewhere Angry.

Background - I was on sequential HRT - Evorel Sequi, got swapped to Novofem when Evorel became unavailable. Novofem wasn't controlling the flushes (not surprising, as I've discovered it provides a lower equivalent dose compared with Evorel). I spoke to doctor on Monday and she was going to try to find out what alternatives were available. However, the pharmacist says that he can't get whatever it was she did prescribe. He says he has Kliofem in stock, but that is a continuous form of HRT. I'm not that keen on the idea of continuous HRT because I feel worse when I am in the second half of the month when I have the progestogen-containing patches/pills.

I was going to start a new thread to ask if anyone has any idea which sequential forms of HRT are available, before I ring the doctor back? I feel guilty for bothering them at such a time, but I am starting to feel awful again. Last time I rang up the receptionist was pretty grumpy with me Sad.

PurpleBlueAnemone · 03/04/2020 14:07

My worst symptom was insomnia and I dread to think how I'll cope if that comes back.

Tonyaster · 03/04/2020 14:09

Love novofem! Prefer it to my old Elleste

Hagbeth · 03/04/2020 14:24

I live in a small village. I’ve not had any since autumn last year and I’ve now gone through months of withdrawals and have decided to stop altogether rather than risking taking a few then having to go through all this again if they run out.

TBeats · 03/04/2020 14:44

Same here I couldn't function plus the depression symptoms were also debilitating

howells · 03/04/2020 18:16

Tonyaster I'd rather have Novofem than nothing! But it doesn't completely control my symptoms. I was hoping there might be a slightly higher dose sequential HRT available.

Haven't bothered ringing again yet. I couldn't face another battle with the grumpy receptionist. I do feel sorry for them as I guess they are under a lot of pressure at the moment.

in the meantime I've got some Menopace Night to try.

Tonyaster · 03/04/2020 18:56

Why not try Novofem and the dr Vogel menopause supplement together?

Tonyaster · 03/04/2020 18:58

I just put in a repeat prescription request explaining elleste wasnt available so could i have novofem instead. Didn't talk to anyone.

Lightofthephoenix · 03/04/2020 19:23

@howells Evorel Sequi back in stock May 2020. Evorel 50 and Evorel Conti both back in stock.

howells · 03/04/2020 19:48

Thanks Lightofthephoenix, I hope that’s right. It was originally supposed to be back in stock end of March (I’ve been checking), so I hope it doesn’t get delayed again.

Tonyaster I might try that. I don’t know what she prescribed instead, DH couldn’t remember and the pharmacist held on to the script. But I suppose I can say that in the e-mail. I’ll look up the Dr Vogel supplement- is that something you have used?

Tonyaster · 03/04/2020 21:39

I used it for a few months before HRT. It was quite good. I rate their supplements.

howells · 03/04/2020 21:44

Thank you Tonyaster 🙂
