AD instead of HRT

Looking for someone wiser than me.. I'm reading over and over about the shortages of HRT patches and someone has suggested anti depressants as an alternative.. hmm is this a viable option? Never touched them! I do have quite bad anxiety in my hormonal state which I didn't have before so I'm wondering if it's worth a discussion with the GP?

ADs are not recommended other than for women who cannot use HRT (this is clear in the NICE menopause guide).

There is a shortage of some types of HRT but many other types are available. See here

Thank you j@JinglingHellsBells I shall take a look and see if there is an alternative route.

Anti depressants being given for the menopause makes me so angry.

Its like 'aw you poor thing, are you depressed about not being able to get pregnant? Here have some anti depressants to cheer you up. Now give us a smile on your way out'.

Fuck that shit. Women need hormones so that they feel alive again or so that they don't end up crippled for the rest of their lives, not anti fucking depressants.

I don’t think a Dr would recommend them as an alternative but I am on ADs (for depression) and they have had a positive impact on my menopause symptoms. Maybe that’s why someone suggested it?
