Clear discharge for weeks

Can someone reassure me please?
I'm 47. I last had this clear vaginal discharge at christmas then no period for 6 months. And now I've got it again, been going on for 2 weeks, no hot flushes during this time and haven't had a period for a few months. I did go to the doc last time I had this and she shrugged her shoulders and said it must be perimenopause and tested for infection - negative.
Is there anything I could take? Do? Does this mean vaginal atrophy is immenent? I'm a bit worried.
Thanks

Trying to help but bit confused...

most of us have a clear discharge all our lives until menopause when it all dries up. Have you never had any discharge before? It's normal to have a slight clear discharge and usually gets a bit more in the middle of each month around ovulation.

If it's really really watery it can be a sign of VA.

Yes, I've always had discharge but this is different. Really watery and loads of it.

I' d pop along to the GP and ask for vaginal estrogen. Unless they are experts they prob can't tell by examining you- takes an expert eye often- and they may think 'watery= good so you will have to ask for what you want.
