Should I be worried?

I've posted on another thread, but thought I'd start my own, just for reassurance (or otherwise!).

I've now been bleeding for @ 8 weeks solid, with the flow getting a bit heavier in recent days. As well as this, I've have a dull ache at the base of my spine, on and off, during this time. Uncomfortable, rather than painful.

I went to the doctor a couple of weeks ago, who advised this was normal and did blood tests, for which I haven't yet had the results.

Just wondering if the above seems 'normal'?

can't believe your gp thinks 8 weeeks of non stop bleeing is normal.

FGS how do they believe that?

see another gp.

How old are you and is this one of other menopausal symptoms you have?

Hi @JinglingHellsBells, thanks for responding.

I went to the doc when it was @ 6 weeks, doesn't make much difference tbf.

I've just turned 50, don't seem to have too many other symptoms, other than killer headaches that last 2 days every few months for the last couple of years.... Going to ring the doc again this week.

sorry but your GP sounds useless. At the very least you are poss anaemic now. Or will be soon. Treatment for heavy periods in peri menopause is easy and cheap! Pills you can take each month prior to a period to slow down the flow, the Mirena coil (first choice), or a procedure to reduce womb lining. I don't see what a phone call will do if you have had no success with GP already. You need a face to face appt and to be more demanding. read the NHS site for treatment for heavy periods and go along asking to discuss the options.
