Would HRT stop this?

I'm nearly 44 and have had peri-menopausal symptoms for a few years, possibly due to my thyroid meds. But this year I've had one period roughly every 3 months, but really heavy, and the last two times I have had to take norehisterone to make it stop (longest time was 30 days of heavy bleeding).

If I took some form of HRT would this issue go away? I feel so fed up.

It depends which type of hrt, if you used a mirena coil for the progesterone part then yes it would almost certainly reduce if not stop your periods. I have evorel 50 patch for oestrogen and a mirena for horrendously floody periods which has all but stopped my periods for 3 years it's wonderful. I would suggest getting the mirena first and see if you need oestrogen when it's settled.

Hi OP
I had this -was anaemic and felt dreadful.
Norethisterone 4 times as it was torrential.
Was offered Mirena coil or Cerelle.
Took Cerelle and it has been the best thing I have ever done.
Ive always had heavy ,painful periods and they just became unmaneagable during Perimenopause to the point I was taken in for further investigations ,nothing found and sent home with Norethisterone.

Thanks guys, I'll make an appointment to ask my GP about Mirena or the pill. I can't take much more of this!
