I'm menopausal- it's about a year since I had a period but as I'm under 50 it's supposed to be 2 years. So I'm bang in the middle I suppose.
I've had a relatively easy ride. Some flushes and bloating (still managing to lose some weight on SW.). I can't take HRT due to a rare kidney condition and am pretty much housebound with a chronic illness which is similar to MS.
But in the last few months, and especially weeks, the moods!!!!!! I'm either crying for no reason, horrendously angry (usually at my poor dh) or incredibly grumpy, which is how I am today! Once again my medical history affects this as the recommended medication for this is fluoxetine, but I'm on a different antidepressant and a moood stabiliser which e psychiatrist doesn't want to mess with, as menopausal mooods will eventually pass.
So I'm at a loss. I do all the right things - remove stress, mindfully meditate, stroke my guinea pigs, get out for walks when I can. I eat well but sleep is a bit odd as I take sedating medications. I also shout at my 3 teenagers (of course, always for totally valid reasons
).
Does anyone know of any alternative remedies I can try apart from wine? I used to find Evening Primrose good for pms and I use some essential oils for relaxation. I'm willing to try anything just to get my nice stable mind back. I worked hard to get it like that and I'd like to have it back now please!
Thanks for your help!
