Endometriosis and HRT total hysterectomy

Hi

I've had a total hysterectomy for endometriosis I'm 38.

I've been put on combined HRT for 18months evorel conti. Now progesterone trying tablets and evorel patch.

Any ladies in same situation.

My problem is the progesterone but they say at hospital it helps to stop regrowth of endo lesions. Esterogen unopposed can lead to problems.

I have side effects with the progesterone ie feels like endo belly again 🤷‍♀️ constipation, vein pain, shooting pains in armpits, acne but I have tried the evorel alone and no nasty side effects.

I've cut my patch to half 25 and wondered if the dose was quite low it may minimise the risk of endo coming back?

This is a mine field and ive researched it and not much supporting evidence?

Can you explain a bit more? I'm not sure what you are on- continuous combined ( 2 hormones daily) or sequential ( estrogen daily and progesterone 12 days a month)?

You can have unopposed estrogen if you have no womb. If you have endo though the estrogen-alone may stimulate any endo tissue elsewhere in your bdy.

Assume this was explained, as above?

If you reduce the estrogen to 25mcgs you are probably not going to get enough estrogen to protect your bones (against osteoporosis) because you are only 38 and need a high level of estrogen now for at least 12-14 years.
So reducing it is NOT a good idea.

A lot depends on how extensive your endo was- did they remove it all?

This is the type of conversation you need with your specialist- it's complicated to answer without knowing all your medical history.

Yes specialist has explained I need to be on combined HRT for 18 months then I can drop progesterone. So I'm taking utrogestan 100mg and evorel patch. But about to try oestrogen pump. (Previously tried evorel conti patch).
I have read that even a low dose of oestrogen can protect you? ( I have no womb or ovaries.)

It's so frustrating having finally got my life back being thrown into the confusing world of HRT. I still have endo on my bowel and yes it was extensive.

I'm persevering on the combined but really don't like taking progesterone.

So basically women with endo have to decide between lesser of 2 evils. If the side effects continue I'm not sure what to do. The GP mentioned Tibiolone? Anyone in this situation.

Hi I am 35 and been on tibolone since I had my hysterectomy at 31 for stage 4 endo.

I have been on that since the day after my operation and my specialist adviced that I stay on tibolone as it is better for someone with endo symptoms as it is a synthetic hormone.

I also had endo on my bowel, I had a bowel resection at the same time as my hysterectomy.
