Home Office restriction on HRT.

This is a copy and paste from a message I received from a private hospital this morning after I queried why my HRT is unobtainable. It is a government created issue and there isn't a supply shortage at all. "KIMS pharmacy were ordering direct and getting supplies. However a Home Office regulation has now been implemented as of Monday which is restricting KIMS to the absolute bare minimum. KIMS pharmacy are in direct contact with Novartis and do already have an account. Unfortunately there does seem to be a lot of different version of what is happing going around !!

I will forward your email to pharmacy.

Kind regards"

I've seen this on Twitter, posted by Dr Anne Henderson (meno consultant.)

I have been in touch with @Novartis* who manufacture one of the leading brands of #HRT patch and I understand that they have adequate supplies of the products but the “middle men” in the equation - let me guess who they are!
@DHSCgovuk are restricting distribution*.

1 it's not the Home Office, it's the Dept for Social care & Health

2 It's 'only' patches not other types.

3 They are 'releasing' only 10% of stocks. No idea why. Maybe they are stock piling pre no deal Brexit.

So it’s rationing of a product deemed ‘nice to have but not essential?’ That’s the only reason I can think of. Are patches more expensive than pills? I’d imagine so. I wonder if NIHCE will change their guidelines.

It's not about cost. You can't even get them on a private prescription. I tried 8 private places with no stock.

The last place said it wasn't just patches that there were restrictions on buying but they wouldn't tell me what else.

Anyone know anything about how long this will last or any cheery news about an online European pharmacy where you can obtain them?
