Unexpected bleeding on HRT

I'm 52 and I've been taking Kilofen 2mg/1mg for the past 7 months without any problems whatsoever. This type of hrt is taken constantly and there is no monthly bleed. However on Friday I started spotting which developed into a full period type bleed by the end of the is has continued and 3 days later I'm still bleeding and it's heavy enough to need to a pad.

I've read the leaflet and it says that any bleeding after the first 6 months needs to be investigated so I'm going to ring my GP in the morning for advice but in the meantime has anyone else had any experience of this?

I have literally just been talking about this with someone over coffee (yes we have odd conversations, however it is relevant to the jobs we have).
You are doing exactly the right thing going straight to your GP. It is quite common and isn't usually something serious, but they like to see you straight away in case it is something more serious so they can catch it early. You may be referred for scans/biopsies, but all done in outpatients so you won't be admitted to hospital or anything.
My friend had a similar situation and had polyps that were removed and now she's all fine with no more bleeding.

@Idolikeanicepieceofcake
Thanks for the reply, I rang the gp this morning and I have an appointment for Wednesday so hopefully they'll tell me that everything is normal. I do have existing fibroids which they are well aware of, so if it turns out that hrt is affecting them I'll probably have to stop taking it.

Is it over a year since your own last natural period? If not you could be having one. Lots of GPs seem to give out continuous type HRT far too early then women bleed, get worried, and go for investigations when often it's just the wrong type of HRT!

HRT can sometimes make fibroids grow a little (but in 11 years it's not made mine grow) and it's not a reason to stop HRT. Continuous HRT like yours should not affect fibroids.

@JinglingHellsBells it's well over a year since my last natural period, I was on a different HRT for 2 years where you still have a period type bleed, after that I went onto eleste Duet continuous roughly 15 months ago. I only switched to Kilofem in January this year when it be some impossible for the pharmacy to get Eleste as there was no stock available.
