Am getting a bit worried about change in cycle. Cycle has always been regular if on the long side - 30 to 34 range. Over last few cycles have felt that period is getting heavier and slower to end. Also noticing more discharge beween periods. Today is Day 9 and period had pretty much petered out on Friday. However yesterday had quite a bit of spotting and some today which is becoming a bit more blood like rather than the rustish brown it was yesterday. I'm 48 nearly 49 so I assume peri at this stage. Have had some night sweats but none recently. Am due to go on holidays on Wednesday - a solo holiday- so unsure as to what to do.

Just bumping this thread for you, @lottie0000 - hopefully some Mumsnetters will be along soon with some advice for you.

In the meantime, please do take a look at our guides to the perimenopause and the menopause.

Hope you have a lovely holiday. Flowers

I’ve just had a health scare over spotting but the reason it was / is so scary is because it was deemed to be after menopause. I’ve learned a lot about it all these last weeks and it sounds like you’re in perimenopause... inconvenient but probably not too worrying?

Seems reasonable to just enjoy your hols as much as possible, make a note of your bleeding and other symptoms (it seems doctors hope you will be able to answer questions about what and when and how heavy and how long). Work out a sort of scale for bleeding, where 1 is two liners a day and 5 is almost unmanageable and keep a little diary of it. That way you can know if and when you ever should worry and you can describe your symptoms.

Thank you for your response. Good advice re tracking. Hope your symptoms resolve themselves
