Hi ladies, since being sterilised 2.5 years ago I have had terrible issues with heavy periods, falling asleep on the spot, anxiety etc. In january my periods vanished and a blood test showed my FSH levels were 63 which my DR said was that of a post menopausal woman. After 3 missed periods I started bleeding. Hot flushes come and go and the falling asleep on the spot thing scares me as I have 3 very young children. The main symptom that is getting to me is the weight gain. I am a bit of a fitness freak, work out a lot, walk a lot and eat healthy. I am painfully bloated constantly now and look pregnant! I had a scan and blood test to rule out ovarian cancer due to my symptoms which were thankfully fine and my FSH blood test has been repeated pending results. No matter what I do, I can not lose these extra 8lb that are making me miserable 😞 has anyone had a similar experience? The consultant won’t even prescribe HRT until my 2nd blood test has confirmed results so i am going untreated technically which is another worry 😞 it’s making me feel like a bloated hideous hormonal sleep mess xx

Your situation is called premature ovarian failure and you will hrt until at least 51. Your weight gain is due to the estrogen drop and it is common during peri.

My consultant is insistent on the marina coil too. Not sure if that’s common for this situation x

Honey I think that you need a specialist, I don’t know if the coil is the best suggestion, I think that you need estrogen and basically hrt.
