I’m 45 and have suspected my hormones are changing over the last year or so. Lots of run of the mill symptoms getting worse. An odd one which I have experienced twice now in the lead up to my period is horrendous jaw pain. It’s not specific to a tooth and I visited the dentist after the first time. I have read that jaw pain can be linked to hormones and this month have had awful pain in the lead up to period which has now totally disappeared. I just wondered if anyone experienced this in early peri and if there is anything that I can do? Painkillers barely touch it. I’m not on any hormones.

I completely sympathise - its bloody awful isn't it!

Im peri and I have this every time, had it for years. In my case I have endometriosis and adenomyosis and my gynaecologist has said it is due to that. I have to take naproxen and morphine for the pain some months.

My cousin has exactly the same pain but not endo and adeno, and my sister has both but no jaw pain. Its completely random.

Can the GP give you something for the pain?

Thanks for your reply. I don’t know what the doctor can do but I will be asking very soon. It’s such a weird thing. I’m really hoping I don’t get it every month. Symptoms definitely seem to come and go randomly so hopefully it won’t happen too often.
