Am 53 and suffering from heavy periods. Was hoping that they would have stopped by now but GP told me tonight that often they get heavy before they stop. Great !

He has prescribed me Tranexamic acid tablets to help as apparently the lower dosage ones over counter at Boots are no longer available or there is difficulty in supply

Anyway anyone use Tranexamic ? All ok ?

Yes, used it for 10 years. It helped a bit but as I got nearer to menopause it helped less.

Ive been using it for the past 5 years and no problems.
Im 41 and have peri menopause symptoms & really dont want to get mirena.
Most months it would be only for max of two days. Find them good.

Thank you both.

Probably only need it myself for two days three max but hope it will give so much relief.

checkoutno3please I've been taking it for a few months. My periods are still horrendously heavy and long. But the tranexamic acid does help and I find that taking ibuprofen helps too. Google it you will find some info online. The doctor now prescribed the minipill and I think it made things worse. I am now on the 13th day of bleeding Confused

@Nearly47 that sounds awful. My periods are short but very intense so to speak I hope you get it sorted. Thanks
