My HRT brand (Elleste Duet) is no longer available (and nor are the previous two brands I'd used...)

I called the chemist today to check they'd received my HRT prescription from my doctor (for Elleste Duet) to be told that the company making it had temporarily stopped production. He didn't know why, or when it was likely to start again. I asked about the two previous brands I'd used (Climagest and Cyclo-Progynova) and was told both had been discontinued. I was descending into total panic (as my prescription ends today) but miraculously the chemist found a packet of Elleste Duet that I had forgotten to collect last time, so I am ok now for a month.

But it has left me very confused about what is going on with regard to HRT. I have no sense that new preparations are being developed and coming on stream, so it feels more and more like the whole industry is just withdrawing from it. That seems unhelpful to say the least as - for me at least - it has been a total life-saver.

More practically, does anyone have any thoughts on what I could transition to if Elleste Duet gets discontinued as well?

The website Menopause Matters has a list of all HRT . You can find the same HRT with a different name there- look at the list and check the amount of estrogen and the type/ dose of progestogen.

Same problem here. Went to pick up prescription for Elleste Solo only to be told it hadn't been in stock for some time. I had previously been given a 6 month supply.

Rang around other chemists. Nothing. Problems with manufacturing or something. Then a chemist said you just need the active ingredient. Go back to the doctor and as for a new prescription for the active ingredient. Estrovial or something like that.

I now have different HRT which is the same Grin apparantly. But only 3 months supply. Will give it a go.

Estrodial

Thanks @mizu. It's depressing how long it is taking to sort out - there is another thread on here that shows it's not just become a problem in the last few months.

I have this problem, too.
Could only get 3 months of the 6 month prescription for Elleste Duet 2mg.
The pharmacy gave me an owing slip, and assured me that they would have it in stock in a few days.
Around two months later, they still don't have it, and I'm running low now.
I would have tried other pharmacies had I known.
They've had £18 from me and only supplied £9 worth of medication.
Could I get my money back?
And now I don't have that prescription to go elsewhere.
