Peri-Menopause Symptoms

Daphnesmate · 20/05/2019 16:31

Hi, I have a collection of symptoms that seem to match those of the peri-menopause:

weak bladder
Irritable bowel, especially on the run up to periods (which seem to be pushing out a bit farther apart)
Itchy, soreness down below - currently trying estirol cream

Moody irritable (far more than usual)

Eyesight has deteriorated in the past year. I am 45 and I was told about 5 years ago that I was headed for an early menopause by fertility consultant following tests but I also have health anxiety and I'm worrying that something more sinister might be happening (bladder issues currently being investigated by GP - no infection flagging up).

I feel like I'm going slightly mad prattling on about the peri-menopause to the GP but the symptoms seem to fit. Anyone else had any of the above symptoms (or any others)?

OP, just to say I had terrible vaginal burning and it turned out to be an ovarian cyst. Apparently the pain can refer to the vagina and feel like burning/discomfort.

Does anyone know how to manage it without HRT? I can't take it.

Has anyone had bloating that magically goes down just before their period starts?

Maybebaybe · 25/05/2019 11:59

I have that bloating Minnie. It's awful. Periods are still regular so unlikely to be peri-menopause although I am 48. Two weeks before my period I fill up like a balloon and then deflate when my period arrives. I'm trying with the idea of trying the Mirena coil to reign this in but can find no evidence of anything reliably helping PMS symptoms. So really am grasping at straws.

I have to say OP I also have similar symptoms to your first post but am not peri yet. Confused. Bloody hormones!

MinnieMountain · 25/05/2019 12:27

Maybebaby that is very reassuring. Since I had breast cancer last year I tend to panic about "those" areas.

My last period was half its usual length and I've started another 14 days after it finished. I'm looking forward to them going altogether now!

Hi hue, glad I'm having a pelvis check now after your post...did you have any other symptoms with it?
