Peri or something else?

I went to the dr finally because for the last year I have been have 2 week periods followed by bleeding around ovulation. I get so much pain in my stomach and right leg during my period and nothing she prescribed touches it. She felt my stomach which was really tender.

She says at 41 my symptoms aren't normal. My mum died of ovarian cancer at 68 and she also had fibroids.

I'm having an ultrasound and blood tests I'm quite nervous.

Reading about peri my symptoms don't seem unusual, or do they?

In all honesty it sounds hormonal but you are having a scan so that should put your mind at rest.

Ovarian cancer does not show itself as bleeding like you are having- that's why it's called the 'silent killer' because until it's advanced there are no symptoms usually.

If this is peri, you may need to see a menopause specialist because it's early and could be an early menopause if your periods stop before 45.

You should also perhaps be investigated for endometriosis which can't be seen on a scan, they need to have a look inside. if this is not mentioned as a possible diagnosis, ask to see a specialist in it.
