Hi Everyone , I've been on Elleste Duet 2mg tablets for 6 months , they are out of stock everywhere . The substitute prescription my doctor has sent to my chemist is for Femoston-conti 1mg/5mg . The Elleste say they contain 16 2mg estradiol tablets and 12 2mg estradiol & 1mg norethisterone tablets . While the Femoston-conti contain 1mg estradiol and 5mgs dydrogesterone each . Im worried they are not comparable with less oestrogen and way more progesterone in the alternative I've been given . i will query this with my doctor on monday but wondered if anyone else had been given a substitute for Elleste Duet with a better comparable hormone ratio :(

In our area kliofem is being prescribed as an alternative, along with kliovance and novofem.

You can't compare progestogen when they are different.

(I used to take Norethisterone 5mgs and am now on Utrogestan 200mgs! Just as an example.)

Dydrogesterone is very different from Norethisterone.

Bit confused why you would not only swap from one brand but more to the point why swap to a continuous type from sequential?

You should swap to Femoston sequi or another tyoe with 2mg estrogen and 1 mg norethisterone.

Yes , this is why im confused to why the doctor sent this as a replacement , I still have 4 days left of my Elleste Duet so hopefully they will be able to send a suitable equivalent by then

I think that it is better to use a cyclical type with 2 mg of estradiol if you want to continue with something similar.
