Is it ever worth having blood tests to confirm peri?

I have a couple of health conditions and we're trying to work out if a worsening/new symptoms might in fact be menopause adding into the mix. I'm the right age in terms of family history. Are any blood tests useful in terms of assessing peri?

Well, I've had blood tests twice which revealed nothing unusual - the doc just said you're getting flushes, you're irritable, your bladder is weak, you can barely remember your own name, you keep bursting into tears, and you've got a mirena coil. It's probably peri, let us know if the symptoms become really unbearable.

O....kaay

Blood tests in peri are unreliable and only used for women under 45.

NICE guidelines tell GPs to go by symptoms.

That sounds rough gingervitis.

Interesting. What tests do they do in women under 45?

I started my peri at 38 and had severe symptoms at 41. My gyn based more on my symptoms and my blood tests showed an elevated FSH and very low AMH. It is measured more for fertility treatments.

I was told by my GP that I wasn't due to hormone tests that showed my ovaries are still working.

I'm just turned 45 went to GP with the symptoms I've been experiencing; acne, hair loss, joint pain, irregular periods, head fog, low mood, headaches & insomnia & she arranged a blood test.. booked a telephone consultation with GP but received a letter saying she wants a face to face consultation which is Monday week.. worried me a little at what might have shown up but then I experienced my 1st ever hot flush on Monday (bloody horrendous thing that was) but at least confirmed to me I'm not imagining all the other symptoms.. 100% up for trying HRT with the hope of getting the old me back! I hate the miserable unsociable insecure person I've become. I'm always tired, I've not motivation & feel like I've aged 10 years in the last few months.
