Sticky gel!

Thanks for the previous advice; I have switched to gel and progesterone tablets, so far so good although I am very irritable so may increase from just 1 pump a day to two.

My main question is about the application of the gel. I have been spreading it in the inside of my thighs (alternate legs) but not rubbing in as such. But, it's taking ages to dry! And then remains sticky for ages after. If I wait at least half an hour and then pull on trackies for example, they stick to my leg.

It's not recommended to rub it in but I'm wondering if I need to. Anyone else find it remains sticky for ages?

what sort are you using? And how much?

There is Sandrena and Oestrogel.

Evidently Sandrena is much stickier.

I've used Oestrogel for years and find it fine.

I use 2 pumps a day but divide it- so 1 in the morning and 1 at bedtime.

That's only half a pump per arm or thigh (I prefer upper arms but sometimes do inner thighs.)

It dries in around 30 seconds.

If you have been given Sandrena, maybe ask to swap to Oestrogel?

Morning Jingling

It is Oestrogel I'm using. It's so annoying having it still damp and sticky for so long afterwards. Especially if I start doing a 2nd pump in the mornings, I'll have to get up a lot earlier before getting dressed for work. Perhaps I should try it on my outer thighs or arms instead to see if that helps!

I don't understand that being honest.

If you use 1 pump at the moment, that's half a pump spread over 2 thighs. It should dry in seconds.

Maybe try upper backs of arms.

I've used it for over 10 years. It dries in seconds - always apply after my morning shower and by the time I've cleaned my teeth or started my make up, it's dry.

ps How large an area are you spreading it over on your thighs?

In some packs, the leaflet tells you to spread it as large as the 'template' and that is the info leaflet unfolded- approx the size of an A4 piece of paper. If you are just 'stroking' it on a tiny areas it will take ages to dry.

Maybe that's it, I need to spread more thinly! It's taken all of Line of Duty to dry tonight and still sticking to my pjs now Grin

I used to spread it on my inner arms from elbow to wrist. Switched to estradot though because I hated the tackiness. Sometimes it left a whiteish cast too.

@menopours

What on earth are you doing with it? Smile

I was counting how many times I rub it in last night, thinking of your experience.

When I rub it into my upper arms, I avoid the front area nr the breasts, and rub it on the sides and round the back of the arm OR on my inner thighs.

That's half a pump to each arm or leg.

I must use something like 6 'strokes' on each arm to spread it.

It's absorbed best by covering as large an area of skin, as thinly as possible. But of course you don't rub like mad or with a lot of firm pressure (not like scrubbing the floor!)

If you aren't rubbing it in at all or just applying to a very small area, then it will take forever to dry AND you probably won't absorb much either.

Blush I think I'm just sort of squirting and then one stroke so leaving it thick and in a blobBlush
No wonder I'm not feeling so good!
Will try thinking about spreading it like butter across toast later...
Thank you Thanks

Maybe try squirting it onto your palm first?

I do that, then pick up around half on my fingers of one hand and apply to one arm, then 'wipe' the other palm on the other shoulder and massage it in gently.

menopours · 29/05/2019 23:00

Just thought I'd update. I've changed from putting the gel on my inner thighs to my upper arm/shoulder. Gel now dries in about 2 minutes and I'm beginning to feel a bit better!
So I'm guessing for some reason my thighs are non permeable, that's why it never dried properly and I felt like crap Grin

I use sandrema and rub in on thigh covering an area about size of hand and dry within a minute or two well at least enough to put loose PJs on
