Anyone have experience of using Tibolone

I switched patches to tablets - on the doctors advice. I have a 2.5mg prescription of 28 tablets, day 3 and I've had nothing but a strange heartburn type feeling 🤔

I was on Tibolone for 3 months but it didn’t suit me. I need stronger estrogen. Give to it some time and you will see.

So, after 30 odd years of PMDD as a consequence of severe progesterone intolerance and treatment by many gynaes (of varying quality) I now have two consultants on my case. I had several blissful months on oestrogen only hrt. But without a hysterectomy that's obviously not sustainable. Consultant A says fine, let's give you a hysterectomy so you can have your oestrogen and finally feel well. Consultant B has put me on Tibolone. 6 weeks in and I'm back to constant cortisol overload, feeling negative and fearful and not sleeping. I want to stop taking it, but he says stick with it, it might get better. Easy for him to say as he just moves onto his next patient. He says he will also agree to hysterectomy if it doesnt work for me after 3 months. But how much of this torture can anyone reasonably tolerate? When to shout "ENOUGH "? Any experience or knowledge based wisdom very welcome.

Just throwing in a grenade here :)

Do you have to use HRT? What's your quality of life like without it?

have you been offered either the Mirena coil or natural progesterone (Utrogestan) as the progesterone part of it?

(and have you had a scan or something now if you have used estrogen only for months? How many months?)

Hi. I have tried every type of progesterone, including the coil. I have always been severely progesterone intolerant to every iteration of it, including my own. I did 6 months oestrogen only and it was like a whole different life. I did have an unexplained bleed in that time, followed by hysteroscopy and biopsy, which were normal. I am much happier on oestrogen than I am on nothing. It's not that I don't understand all the alternatives and their implications, I do. The choice for me now is hysterectomy and oestrogen or suffering on with the tibolone in the hope it might get better. That's why I asked about experience with tibolone specifically.

You make it sound as if my advice was a waste of time.

I don't think you will find the answer here, because all women have different experiences. I love the kind of hrt I'm on though it's not 100% perfect at all, whereas other women hate it. We are all different.

Someone might come along and say they loved Tibolone or gave it up after 3months, neither experience will help because you are you and no one can predict how you will experience it.
