Hi I'm looking for advice for this horrific bleed!
I'm on hrt ( was elleste duet but can't get it). The dr then prescribed elleste solo 1mg, and I discovered it was a no bleed tablet. All was good but last week another dr said I'm too young (49) to be on a no bleed and put me onto femostat... and since Saturday I've bled like God knows what.
I can't cope. I'm flooding every 1.5 hours, I can't sleep as I'm up changing every 2 hours and terrified of bleeding all over the bed ( again).
Can anyone offer advice on what to do/ take/ wear? I'm seriously considering adult nappies here. Every time I move I flood.
PLEASE SOMEONE HELP!
should I see gp? Or see how it goeS?

Ellestte Solo is estrogen-only.

www.menopausematters.co.uk/treatafter.php

What else are you using as the progestogen? Please don't say 'Nothing' as your GP has committed negligence.

Are you sure that's what you are on?

Estrogen only is for women who have no uterus. It's not 'no bleed' it's for women who have had a hysterectomy. 'No bleed' HRT is continuous combined. Two hormones daily .

If that's not you, this is the wrong HRT.

How long were you on Elleste Solo?

How long have you been on Femostan (assume that's it- not Femostat...)

Have you come to the end of the pack when you will have a bleed?
That is normal but you will have a thicker lining to come away if you have been on estrogen-only for a while beforehand as you've not shed the lining from that.

In the meantime, take 2 Ibuprofen every 3 hrs. This will slow the bleeding.

If you are now on Femoston Sequential you will have another normal bleed at the end of the next packet.

But see your GP as one of them appears to be dishing out the wrong HRT and they need to be told this! It's a disgrace.

Hi thanks for the reply! I was only on elleste solo for about 6 weeks as I knew I shouldn't be but they literally said to the chemist " what can you get?" As they couldn't get elleste duet.
I'm now on femoston 2/10mg.
I was on elleste duet 2mg for years so I'm gutted to have to change.
I know I'm bleeding this bad because I didn't bleed for about 5 weeks which was bliss but very wrong.
I've taken 2 ibuprofen now, thanks. The problem I have is they make me sleep, which I'm terrified of doing as I'll bleed everywhere!

I'm now on femoston 2/10mg. have been since Sunday. The dr I saw last week was horrified I was on the solo and said hopefully no damage done after only a few weeks.

So the pharmacist gave you estrogen only or your GP wrote a new script? Either way, that's not on.

5 weeks on estrogen only isn't awfully long (I do that all of the time as I am on long cycle under a consultant.) Yes, my bleeds are heavy but only for a couple of days.

The risks of estrogen only are if you are on that for a year or more- 5 weeks is fine- quite a number of women do this anyway with their drs guidance.

Two pairs of pants in bed and a nighttime pad may help?

Thanks Jingling. I do wear 2 pairs of pants and a night time pad, still going every 2-3 hours!! Hopefully the ibuprofen will help Smile
