Unable to get hold of any Elleste Duet

I, like many others it seems, cannot find a pharmacy with a supply of Elleste Duet 2mg. The pharmacist suggested Kliofem but I still need to go back to my GP to get a new prescription if I want it.

I’ve only been on Elleste 3 months, after changing from Evoril sequi for various reasons. The progesterone in both the hrt I’ve tried so far, norethisterone, seems to give me some horrid side effects, rage, feeling low, anxiety, itchy dry skin etc.

I had been considering trying an alternative progesterone and was hoping for some advice from all the knowledgeable ladies on here...please.

It seems if I have to see the GP anyway, it might be a good time to try something else.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I've had to change my prescription from Tridestra to Femoston for the same reason- just on day 10 and I'm having a very heavy bleed (been 4 days) which I didn't previously (light bleed every 3 months) so I'm just hoping it's my body getting used to the different drug!

That sounds horrid. I hope it stops very soon. There are so many choices out there but the GP doesn’t appear to be very informed on HRT. I’ve been on 2 different varieties over almost a year, & both times the gp has to look it up in her book. I understand that they are not specialists but it’s so frustrating. I’m tempted to seek advice from a private specialist in the hope of getting decent knowledge. Good luck with Femoston...it has been suggested to me as a ‘more gentle’ progestogen, but it surely can’t be great for your body to keep changing.

I am on Femoston and no problems on it. Actually it is the kinder hrt I tried.

I was on Femostan for 18 months but every month I would get really poorly in the 4th week, it was like my immunity was shot to bits just before my period. The GP changed me to Elleste Duet in January and that was fine ,I didn't get sick just very itchy skin, but could handle that. Then the shortage happend and it was no longer available, so now I'm on Premique.. which 2 weeks in, seems ok . It's bad enough finding the right HRT but then not knowing if it will be a continuous medication is quite stressful.

I've been on loestrin as HRT since an earlý menopause 8 years ago. I found out this week there's a shortage and I can't get any.

The gp has prescribed elleste but I haven't been for it yet. Not sure which one she's prescribed.

Does anyone know why there's a shortage and when it's likely to end?

And it may be menopausal rage talking but if a medication affecting the wellbeing of as many men was unavailable wouldn't it be front page news? Angry
