Age 51 and twelve weeks since last period. Could this be it?

Up till January this year my periods were more or less regular. It's now been twelve weeks since my last period. I had about four weeks of very mild hot flushes right after my last period then no other symptoms after that.

I know it's way too early to call and that you have to wait a year period free before you can say you've gone through menopause but I can't help wondering if that could be it.

Could it? Has anyone else had a similar easy time of it and their periods just never restarted?

Similar to you, periods more or less regular, last period started NYE nothing since. Apart from the odd “ is it warm in here or just me” moments I’ve been🤞🏻Ok. I’m nearly 53.

As you say. it's too early to say.
I missed one, then had a load of normal ones, then missed 4 in a row, then a normal one, then bigger gaps before a couple more. (Total time around 2 years for all of this.)

I went four months with nothing, then bled solidly for four weeks, then normal for a while, then one every two weeks for two months and counting.

The bastard hot flushes are getting worse too 😡 and don’t get me started on the headaches.

Sounds like it!

I'm 47 (my mother was earlier too) and last year I had 3 periods. I've been having hot flushes (and mood swings) for 2 years now. GP said I was too young when I went in (with mood swings) 2 years ago so I smiled and nodded and got on with it with a low-dose antidepressant for a while

I've had irregular bleeds, and some amazing gushes (will try a mooncup if they reoccur).

I'm hoping to be done by my 48th birthday later this year bastard hot flushes are keeping me up in the night again this week

About 2 years ago I had my last (very long) 3 week period and nothing since. No periods, no hot flushes or anything else that goes with having the menopause. I am nearly 52 so here's hoping.

AndromedaPerseus · 25/03/2019 21:48

I’m 50 and had a period on 1/1/19 then nothing for 2 months then a period which has so far lasted 2weeks and still continuing. I’m usually as regular as clockwork.

Possibly - but don't rely on it in terms of contraception.
There are plenty of babies out there who were born to mums who didn't think they could get pregnant due to their age.
Your only way of really knowing is to get some blood tests.

Heartening to see that at least some of you did have a plain sailing menopause.

@cstaff After two years I think you can safely say you're though it and out the other side now. Congratulations!

@mineofuselessinformation I get your point but the chance of needing contraception would be a fine thing! Let's just say it's not an issue at the moment.
