HRT and hair damage

I have been HRT for about six months. My hair has completely changed. It is course, dry, lost it’s shine and is much thicker. It is also coming out in handfuls when I wash it, and breaking off halfway down the shaft. It looks awful! Can it be the HRT? I’m on femoston?

Most likely the damage was done pre HRT.
HRT is usually good for hair and Femoston doesn't contain a 'male' type of progestogen- which can affect hair.

Hair has a life cycle of a year or longer (2-3 years) so I'd say the hair you are losing now is old hair pre HRT which is falling out.

Hair grows 1cm a month so in 6 months you new hair will be 2-3 inches - not enough to be a result of HRT (I'd say- just my opinion.)

I am on Femonston too, my hair is thinner than before but I think is due to Meno. I noticed that after some months of hair loss, my hair is stabilisized and look ok.

Glad to hear that, thank you. This is a really recent change, wasn’t having a problem before the HRT. I hope it gets better soon! Thank you again.
