Breast MRIs

I would like to have a mammogram ( breast pain and age, peri menopause). But also nervous about it as I have breast implants and I’ve read there is risk of rupture. Has anyone had a breast MRI instead?

I’ve put this in Menpause as it seems to relate to menopausal breast health.

If you are worried about breast pain you need to see your GP and discuss. self-referring yourself for investigations in not the way. You cannot get an MRI on the NHS. There are other types of screening- thermography where your breasts are not squashed.

Have you ever had a mammo before ? The form will ask the question - have you got implants?

If your GP feels you need specialist advice they will refer you.

No one will do an MRI on demand from you. I'm not sure you can have MRIs long term anyway ( ie every 3 years like mammos) so this is going to be something ongoing.

Assume you mean you would pay for whatever screening as it won't be a NHS option.
