Does this sound like peri?

I'm 41, over the last year my periods have changed in length, I used to have 5 days periods now though although they are still on time I spot for around 5-7 days before bleeding heavily for about 3-4. I get tremendous pain down my right leg once my period is heavy and across my stomach no pain killers touch it.

I'm wondering if this is perimenopause or something else. I'm so fed up.

I'm no expert, but it sounds along the lines of what I'm experiencing (although I'm nearly 50).

see your GP - there are meds that can help or even the PIll if you can take it.

I'm going to see my GP in 3 weeks, I really don't want to take the pill. Isn't it enough that women go through pregnancy and childbirth only to be gifted this!

See your GP. Sounds like endometriosis, not that there's much help for that.

DoBestIKnow · 10/03/2019 08:01

It's the pain on the right and down the leg is worrying because that sounds like what I've experienced from an endometrial cyst on the right ovary. If it bursts, it's like appendicitis. Endo without cysts or even with small cysts you can live with. Big cysts need dealing with.

There's another thread going on here about left leg pain during a period.
it's normal though horrible (I get it.)

www.nhs.uk/conditions/period-pain/

You might want to try taking ibuprofen before your period- some of the prescription type NSAIDs are used like this- taken 3 days before a period and they help reduce prostoglandin output which is what causes the cramps.

Your GP could give you Tranexamic acid or Mefanfemic acid ( or you could buy Feminax over the counter.)

I did wonder about endometriosis, I've had leg pain since my very first period it's now so much worse. Thanks for the info jingling.

My mum died of ovarian cancer 2 years ago she also had fibroids, I don't think it's that at all but is in the back of my mind!
