Soaked in sweat

I started going through the menopause 12 years ago at 45 and I'm now 57 and am through it.
I've always taken HRT as I've worked full time and can't cope without. I am now on the lowest dose oestrogen Kliovance.
I probably don't need it any more but it keeps me ticking along.
I haven't had any hot flushes for 10 years but over the last week I wake up in the morning absolutely soaked and bathes in sweat.
I have to wash my hair and change all the bedclothes.
It can't be the menopause but I have been through a period of extreme stress, divorce, job uncertainty, financial worries and so on and I wondered if this can cause night sweating?
I'm fine in the day but night time is awful.
Has anyone had a sudden recurrence of night sweats?

Well it's certainly the menopause!
You are only 57 and went through menopause early.
As you get further and further into post menopause, your estrogen levels fall even further.
Some women NEVER get rid of flushes and sweats- my mum had them into her 80s (she wasn't on HRT as her then- GP refused to allow her start at 60- not applicable now- rules changed.) There are women in their 90s using HRT for these reasons.

You sound as if you need a higher dose.

Stress can cause night sweats too

Worth seeing your GP to get yourself checked out.

They should exclude other conditions but the symptoms is so classic menopause that it makes sense to increase the estrogen dose.

Ok thanks very much for that. My GP is ok with me upping my dose if I need to so I'll try two and see how I get on.
Gods nobody tells you about the menopause when you are younger.
Nothing like waking up feeling you've been hosed down Shock

Well 3 days on a higher dose of HRT and I am feeling human again, the night sweats have stopped and my mood has improved 100%.
I had begun to hate the human race again and had stopped going out, but you don't notice that your mood is deteriorating until it gets better as it is insidious.
I haven't had mood changes or night sweats for several years so I'm really shocked it started all over again.
Thanks everyone for your great advice.
