I have been on HRT for a couple of years, but was getting some bleeding. It was suggested that my progesterone tablet wasn't doing its thing very well- I gather it can be hard to absorb it, but I got sent to the post-menopausal bleeding clinic, and told to stop my HRT for '6 weeks' to see if the bleeding stops, by my GP. She also identified a cervical polyp (the third I've had...)
Anyway, I went to the clinic today, they did an U/S, which was normal, bar a small fibroid, took off the polyp, and put in a coil! (I hasten to add because I mentioned that I was wondering if the bleeding was due to poor progesterone uptake, and I'd heard (on here!) that the coil prevents the uterus lining building up, as the progesterone is supposed to).
Obviously I will go back to my GP to get the results of the polyp and discuss my ongoing HRT, but am I right in thinking I won't have to take the progesterone tablets any more?
