I was concerned about not going through the menopause aged 55 my dr ran some blood test FSH which came back as not menopausal. My womb lining was 13.5 mm I was sent for a second scan and this reduced to 4.5 mm
This month my period came on day 25 normal bleeding then after 10 days I am still spotting (bright red blood when I wipe)

I suffer with health anxiety so I am imaging all sorts and cannot keep away from google. Has anyone suffered anything similar. Thank you x

why are you worried?what's on your mind?

Blood tests are not accurate in peri menopause; NICE says not to do them. They can show normal when the women is in peri, and post meno when he woman is not. They are a snapshot of the FSH on that day.
The correct way to measure FSH is over 2 months, and take blood on days 2-5 of a cycle. If this wasn't done the odds are your test is inaccurate. At 55 it's highly likely you are in peri.

Your scan showed a normal lining.
You have had a period- maybe slightly early - and are having a slightly longer period. All of this is normal for peri and someone aged 55. Relax!

what happened between your first and second scan?

You said the lining was 13.5 then 4.5. Did you have treatment between the scans or did you have a period? (Assume you had 2 scans with a break between them, and you got 2 results?)

Thank you for you reply. Yes I had a period between the two scans. I suffer with crippling health anxiety so I tend to magnify everything.
My fear it that I have some sort of horrible disease that is being missed x

The only horrible disease would be uterine cancer and your scan has ruled that out.

Have you sought help for your anxiety? Might be worth thinking about something like CBT or counselling.

Also, sounds like reading about the signs of peri menopause would be helpful (so you understand what you are experiencing is normal! :) )

Thank you for you reply. I have actually had a course of CBT with obviously little success. Your comments have made me feel better I sometimes think I am the only person going through this x

Are you grandmagorgeous?

I don't know what to say.

If you are having periods at 56, that is late, but not abnormal.

Go and see your GP if you are worried. They will perhaps arrange another scan. No on here can offer an advice apart from that I'm afraid.
