Bleeding and HRT patches

I haven’t had any period for 15 months and I started on HRT patches 3 weeks ago, today I have started to bleed, very dark brown, more like a breakthrough bleed than a period. Is this normal?

I had one bleed after starting HRT then nothing since. GP said it was normal but to go back if it continued for long.

If you are using a continuous n-bleed regime, all the information (and may be in the pack, certainly online) is that erratic bleeding is normal and expected for up to 6 months until the 2 hormones work in sync and prevent the lining growing and shedding. Nothing to worry about! Relax :)
