Very dry lips and excessive thirst

I'm 53 and post menopausal. I don't take HRt at the moment. For the last 6 months or so I have had extremely dry lips and excessive thirst. When I wake up my mouth feels like a desert.
I was diagnosed with hyperparathyroidism last year and i had a parathyroid gland rmoved - one of the symptoms is excessive thirst but my blood tests are now fine.
My last HbA1c test was 5.3% so I don't think it's a diabetes issue.
I also suffer with dreadful sinus congestion. I know dryness is a menopausal problem but has anyone else had problems with thirst? I have to drink about 3 litre a day just to feel normal!
TIA

I don't understand your blood test result- is the 5.3 the glucose level?
If so, I thought 5 was the cut off point and above 5 was pre-diabetes when they liked you to try to get it down.

You should ask to see an ENT specialist for your sinuses- my DH had that and had an operation to clear them.

I'd go back to the drs and ask for another blood test for your glucose levels, just to be sure.

Are you overweight? Inactive? Diabetes in family at all?

Just checked. The glucose cut off point is 6 for a non fasting blood test and 6.5-7 for fasting. But someone I know was almost 6 and was told she had pre-diabetes and has to cut right back on sugar and refined carbs .

Thanks Jingling for your replies. Yes the 5.3 is the non fasting glucose test. I'm not overweight or inactive and there's no diabetes in my family. But i will go back to GP and ask for a fasting glucose test.

I've had dry lips for a few months now. I think I'm in early peri but it never occurred to me my dry lips could be a symptom.
Sorry not to be more helpful Confused

Just thought I would update - my blood tests all came back normal - including the glucose test. My GP suspects Sjorgens as I also have joint pain in my hands and feet. I'm still waiting for the immunology test result but I suspect it will be negative as my ESR isn't raised.
My dentist says that my saliva production is adequate at the moment and I'm using eye drops for my dry eyes. My worst symptom is my nose - it's permanently bunged up! I have tried all of the sprays with little relief. My GP thinks that HRt will help the dry mouth but not my sinus problems. Hopefully one day it will resolve itself 🤞

Your symptom fills me with dread. For about 2 or 3 days each period I get excessively thirsty and dry lips. I even get itchy gums and inner ears. I end up bushing my teeth a lot, running the toothbrush over my lips as a scrub as the lips tends to peel for this phase of my cycle. I hate it so much. I am naturally quite dry, always have been, i dread becoming drier!

Oh, just saw your update, glad you have a reason and it's not life stage!
