How soon was it for you? Everol conti/ Sequi

Hi,
I was put on everol conti patches on Saturday but then thanks to a kind lady on here it became apparent that I was given the wrong sort. So yesterday I had a new prescription for everol Sequi.Whst I wanted to ask was how quickly others found relief from symptoms? I realise everyone is completely different but as of yet all I feel is tired and rather nauseous. The hot flushes are as bad as ever leaving my face scarlet and dripping many times a day and the night sweats are impossible, I spend all night literally on fire, wet through. My anxiety is high still as is the depression but I am hanging in there hoping these symptoms will settle. I’m desperate to feel like me again.

The 'rule' is you give all HRT 3 months to have its full effect before swapping or increasing the dose.

If you have just come off the combined patch, you may still have some progestogen left in your system. This needs to clear.

I think you should expect to see some improvement in 3-4 weeks with the symptoms getting less.

If not, it's worth thinking about the dose- you may need a higher level of estrogen.

Thank you, I’m sticking it out but not finding it easy as I feel nauseous and just generally lifeless and fed up. I was hoping to feel better after a number of days as I’d read people saying they felt good after a week but the night sweats are exactly the same and now I have an upset tummy and nausea. The depression is a little less but it appears in waves out of the blue.
Call me thick, I’m sorry I’m not awfully educated about HRT yet but with Sequi, weeks 3 and 4 will have progesterone in the patch right? So why would it maybe cause more side effects now if I’d used conti given incorrectly? Just curious and you seem to know what’s what! :)

All I'm guessing at is that if you used conti, the progestogen may not have got out of your system yet. The progestogen 'offsets' the estrogen, by stopping the womb lining being built up, but it can also cause some women to feel rubbish. Progestogen also raises the body temperature. if it'a few weeks since you stopped conti, there won't be any progestogen in your system but if it's days there might be.

If you feel sick that implies the estrogen is too high (it's a type of 'morning sickness'. ) You could try cutting the patch in half and only using that for a week or two.

Hi,
Thank you again. I only started the conti 5 days ago and then it was discovered it was incorrect. I removed the conti patch for the first Sequi patch yesterday. I had some milder nausea a couple of days ago whilst on the conti but today my nausea is constant and really bothering me now. I don’t know why as I would have thought it was the same as when using conti as the oestrogen level is the same. Not sure what to do as I feel awful right now. I do wonder if I made the right decision as my sister died of secondary breast cancer four years ago and her tumours were Oestrogen fed but no genetic factor. I also have considerable varicose veins. The doctor didn’t ask about any family history or vein problems so I only realised when I read the leaflet. Maybe I should stick it out for a few weeks, kind of feel stuck with one evil or another :/

You are hoping for too much too soon.
Nausea is very common. My advice is you cut the patch and try half one to see how that feels just for a week or so then build up to the full patch.
Maybe eating small dry biscuits or ginger tea will help calm your tummy.

The V Veins are not really an issue. It won't be affected by the HRT.

Thank you, I’m going to do that and see if that helps. I’m probably just overthinking it and worrying too much as my mind is still very anxious. I hope that gets better with the patches too in time.

Not doing so good. I started using half a patch on Sunday. I don’t know if it’s the change of everol conti to Sequi which was given to me in error or the half patch of Sequi now but I’m suffering with the most overwhelming nausea and intermittent depression to the level where I feel like I’m best not going on any more.I still have night sweats but not quite so bad but my mental state is no better at all. I reduced to half a patch because of nausea and it’s become so much worse. My gp is poorly educated in menopausal symptoms and meds, they initially told me to ‘just go and get Premarin’ I just don’t know what to do at all. Should I go back to a full patch, go back to my doctors or stick with half a patch? I thought I might be feeling a bit better by now. I’m scared by my all consuming depression spells 😢 Can anyone offer any advice? Feeling rather despairing.
