Fertility in peri?

DustyMcDustbuster · 02/02/2019 18:01

I’m almost 51 & been in peri for what feels like years - night sweats, periods erratic... I have also had PID twice - important as it obvs affects fertility.

But... my question is - what would be the possibility of getting pregnant at my age, with that background?

Not to drip feed, but unprotected sex & as periods erratic, when should I “worry”?!

Please, don’t be harsh - mental health not good right now & I clearly should know fucking better! Sad cries

Yes.

And sometimes the ovaries go into overdrive and push out eggs as if there is no tomorrow in the late reproductive phase.

It's unlikely but there are a number of live births to women aged 50+ every year and presumably these are not all through IVF.

The rule is you use birth control for another 12 months after your last period if that's when you are over 50.

Thank you @Jingling ughhhhhhhh. I’m probably worrying over nothing, but thank you. I’ll wait a little while as last period was early (9 days)...

I'm 49 and was told recently by a gynaecologist that had a 1% chance of getting pregnant.

DustyMcDustbuster · 02/02/2019 19:47

Thank you @Twig I was told my chances at my age are 1% but taking into account the PID (and it being twice) the chances were incredibly low.

I was stupid, but those figures I guess made me feel like “well, that’s almost same odds as the pill / condoms)”. I’m so annoyed with myself.

Posted here as I cannot confide in friends - they wouldn’t hold back on their opinions! 😖

Do you want to be pregnant?
if not, use condoms or the mini pill for another year. It's surely not wroth worrying when you can use contraception?

DustyMcDustbuster · 02/02/2019 22:13

@jingling no, def don’t. It was a one off stupid effing mistake. I’m pissed off at myself. I know better! Can’t even say I was drunk. Been sober nearly 10 years 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

It was last time I slept with guy I was seeing. And can’t take hormones at moment due to investigations into breast issues. Had been fine using condoms!!! Just hoping period is on its erratic mode. 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

Highly unlikely you’re pregnant

DustyMcDustbuster · 02/02/2019 22:56

Thank you @Oly4 I really don’t think I could be, but I looked on my period tracking app & had a sudden “oh fuck no” moment.

@DustMcDustbuster

Sorry. Misunderstood your post.
I thought you meant you would be having sex regularly with no contraception and what were the chances.

Didn't appreciate it was a ONS and you were worried.

The chances are remote.

Maybe put your mind at rest with a test?

LilQuim · 03/02/2019 09:36

@JinglingHellsBells sorry love!! My wording. Yeah, was last time I slept with guy I was seeing. I honestly don't think I could be pregnant, but I guess I was wondering if I was wrong about the chances. Esp with erratic periods, don't want to just ignore it... gone 3 months before! Lol. Thank you!
