Well it looks as though my years of menstruating are over. Should I be celebrating? How did you react knowing you had gone through the menopause?

I’m jealous - I detest my periods and the associated pmt. now my family is complete I’d like to flip a switch and just be done!

Fazackerley · 30/01/2019 21:03

Erm... Finishing your periods doesn't mean you are through the menopause! My meno symptoms started about 8 months after my last period and they can last for years!

fikel · 30/01/2019 21:19

I’m aware the symptoms persist but if you haven’t had a period for 12 months they say you have gone through the menopause! Seems like a new chapter, one that I want to approach positively and healthily

Who says you have gone through the menopause?

budgetneeded · 30/01/2019 21:29

It’s wonderful isn’t it!
Yes time to go out with some girls and celebrate.

Emerald13 · 30/01/2019 22:23

I made my period return taking HRT! Not ready to say goodbye to it! 😂😂😂

fikel · 30/01/2019 22:29

I’m holding off taking HRT, hear good and bad, if it works for you that’s fantastic.

Fazackerley

Who says you have gone through the menopause?
You are classed as peri menopausal, until you haven’t had a period for 12 months, then it’s the menopause. I’m thinking that I won’t be getting one after 11 months- I’m
51 so I will take the good advice and go out with my friends and have fun!!

Your periods don't come back by taking hrt. You have a bleed to shed a build up of uterine lining (caused by the oestrogen) but you are not producing eggs or fertile.

Sorry but there's so much misinformation out there.

Faza I am joking! Of course I am not fertile anymore! It is just my homour! Sorry for misunderstanding! :)
