So I’m 61, no periods for 7 years now.
But
Awful anxiety (which as got worse post meno) and upped ad’s
No interest in most things
Irritable
Low mood
No interest in sex
Headaches and teeth aching
Few aches and pains

So do you only go on hrt for
VA ?
Hot sweats

I’m not in the knowledge, so sorry if I’ve offended anyone

I am on HRT for VA, my most troubling symptom, but others do use it for what is troubling you.
Although I think some GP’s are a bit funny prescribing it once you are past 60 for first time users, but I am not up to date on current guidelines.

You can have HRT AND you ought not to have been given ADs for anxiety if it appeared only post meno.

The NICE guidelines (2015) state clearly that anxiety which only kicks in post meno is to be treated with HRT.

Sounds as if you may need to see a specialist if your GP is a bit out of touch.

There is a window of opportunity ( as menopause specialists call it) to gain all the benefits of HRT ( incl heart, brain, bones) if it is started within 10 years of the menopause- so that's good news as you've got 3 years to go!

You would have to use patches or gel (not pills) because over 60 the small risk of blood clots can increase, but not so much with patches/gel.

All of this is in the NICE guidelines- easily found on google if you want to read before seeing your GP.

Good luck
