Strong smelling foof

Bit of an embarrassing subject but my foof has got a really strong odour. I'm used to having an odour for a few days before my period which usually alerts me to it coming and then it goes away after I bleed.

But now it seems to have an odour all the time and there is no sign of my period coming, and I haven't had one for two months.

I'm in peri menopause and I'm taking Oestogel and Utrogeston every day which I changed to from Femeston three months ago, so I had one period on my new meds but none further.

I tried using a vaginal pessary to remove the smell but I ended up burning the area and it took a couple of weeks to recover so I'm not doing that again!

I think what I'm asking is should I be having a period, and is it normal to be having the odour permanently? It's really getting me down and I don't want to let my OH near me in case he's disgusted by me.

Any advice please!?

Maybe a silly question but are you sure it's not a heightened sense of smell on your part? Hormone ups and downs can give me a very powerful sense of smell..

Vaginas do have odours.

It's normal.

Unless you have a coloured, smelly or irritating discharge, it probably smells as it should.

BUT- if you are still peri, you are not on the correct type of HRT.

Daily Utrogestan is for women who are post menopause. At least 12 months with no period of their own, or are 54 or older.

In peri when you still have some periods, you ought to be prescribed sequential HRT- Utrogestan for 12 days per 28, and you will have a withdrawal bleed roughly 3 days after the last utrogestan.

Why has your dr told you to take them daily?
