Hi.
I'm 45 gp said lasy Yr I was in peri due to symptoms hot flushes, periods closer together etc.

For about 2 years I've been getting brown discharge after my period, mostly when I wipe. It started off just for a day or 2 but the last few months it seems to be going on for about a week or so. Its only slight never heavy and never fresh red blood.

Finished my period last Sunday and had sex with dh last night. When I got up this morning and wiped after loo there was brown discharge again.

Smear in July 2018 normal.
Think I have vag atrophy as vag always feels dry, itchy not thrush, and I can feel clit rubbing on Knickers (not in a nice way) also urinary symptoms.

Has anyone any advice? I'm most concerned about the browny discharge rather than the VA.

Cheers in advance

I've no advice to give sorry but my periods have gone the same. I bleed for about 5 days and then it's brown discharge mostly when I wipe for about a week! I'm 37 but the doctors keep telling me I'm too young although I have most of the symptoms of peri.

Mummy
Thanks for the reply.
I've seen lots online saying similar so think it's just peri. I check obsessively now every time I go the loo!
I don't think 37 is too young BTW, what age was your mum when she went through it?
Do you get hot flushes etc?

I can't take hrt as family history of bc so just taking menopace and lots of other bits.

I don't think 37 is too young especially if peri can last for up to 10 years. My mum was told at 36 by the her doctor that she was going through the "change". She had a hysterectomy early to mid 40s

37 is young.

This idea that peri can last for 10 years is a bit of a mis-interpretation.

Peri can be diagnosed when periods change; this is the first recognised sign.

It could be that someone aged 40-41 has a one-off odd period or two which is the start. But to go into full late stage peri at 37 is young and would be called premature if periods stop before 45-47.

Sodding peri. Sounds like it, OP.

I am 46. My last period was an indecisive 14-day attempt which could be described as "spotting" at best. The one before it was hideous, but only lasted 5 days. The gaps between them can be 9 days (FML) or 70 days. The joys...

@JinglingHellsBells
Hiya,
My periods have gone from a 28 day cycle my whole life, to 25 days and my last one was 22 days. They've have also doubled in the length of time I have them.
